Walking to lose weight

Been going to a pain specialist for my back. It’s called protruding or bulging discs. The doctor said it is the same as herniated discs, the first step. I’m trying really hard not to make it worse, but I want to lose weight!!!

Tatiana said to walk 5 miles per day. I have been doing 3 miles a day. Her suggestion was to do 1 mile in the morning 3 miles in the afternoon 1 mile in the evening.

Yesterday I did:

3 milesĀ  in the evening

1 mile in the morning

4 miles total

I so want to get to 135 pounds!

That’s a great start - well done. You can do it!

Oh dear, I have the same thing, Talk about pain. I could not get out of bed in the morning without help. And all those little yelps of pain that came without warning were embarrassing. I was going to a physical therapist and he suggested water aerobics. When I first started I could barely get in the pool (and there were steps) After about 6 months my doctor said if I continued with the class (1 hour, 3 days a week) I could stop PT. It’s been 2 years now and I have increased my core strength so much… not a twinge for 2 years! and I have started wogging on the days I don’t have WA class. If there is anyway you can do a water exercise class you really owe it to yourself to give it a try. Good luck, I really do know just how you feel. ;)

Wow, Sandy, we gotta talk. I just had my second shot today. But it was in the sacroliliac? (sp.) The same type pain you have, where it is hard to get out of bed. We actually have a clinic here that does physical therapy in the water. What is wogging?

I hope your back pains are getting better Sandy and Jasmyn. I would love to do a water aerobics class too. Maybe one of these days. They are so fun and you don’t really feel tired because you are in the cool water.
